I hope everyone is having a great long weekend.  We are getting close to the end and there is a lot going on to round out the year.  So I thought I would update everyone on the end of the year goings on...

First off, we are still testing this next week, we have finished the Comm Arts and Math sections, but we still need to finish the Science.  The kids have all been doing such a great job, taking their time, rereading directions, and answering completely.  I am very proud of all of them.

Alright now for the calendar of events...

May 3rd- DARE dance at Pineville Jr. High

May 10th- we will have our MAP celebration.  We will be having an ice cream social and we will still need people to donate toppings, bowls, spoons, and napkins.  :)

May 13th through May 17th- will be try-outs for the End of the Year Talent Show.  She asks that you please bring your own cd or other accompaniment.

May 20th- Field Day!!!!!  I am sooooo excited about this!  We do not have all the details yet, but when we get them I will let everyone know.

May 21st- Besides being the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!  it is also the Talent Show!

I'm sure I am missing something, and as I learn about the other dates and events I will fill everyone in.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Reminder- We will be starting MAP testing on Monday morning.  But don't "sweat" it, wear your sweats!  Please try to get a good night's sleep Sunday night and also be to school on time Monday morning.

Thanks, I know you will do great!

Okay, so for the good news...

DARE DANCE!!!  I know everyone has been looking forward to this, and just in time to celebrate the end of testing.

Hope you all have a great weekend and we will see you bright and early Monday!

I know this is really late, and I have not been keeping up like I should.  I apologize.

This last week we made anemometers and wind vanes in class, we are talking about weather.  The kids had a lot of fun doing these projects.  The weather of course was freezing outside, but they braved through it.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped out with the Carnival, it was a huge success.

We are starting our review for the MAP testing this week.  We only have a few weeks left till testing starts.  So...even though this part is not the most fun, please encourage your student to be here every day and bring a Positive Attitude to class.

If you have not sent your picture money, or your pictures, back to school please do so as soon as possible.  Thank you.

Agenda...

Don't forget we do not have school this Friday or Monday, Spring Break is finally here!!!!!  I know the kids are as ready for it as I am.

April 8th is our MAP night at the school, presentations for the 5th grade will start about 6:30 and run around 15 minutes.  There will be pizza served following the presentations in the cafeteria.  If you are planning on coming, please send back your letter so that we know how many to expect.  Thank you.

Friday, April 12th we will be going on a field trip to Pea Ridge Battlefield Park.  We will be sending home permission slips after Spring Break.

April 22nd we will be starting MAP testing and it will continue into May.

Again, sorry it's been so long.  I will try to stay on top of this better.  :)

Have a great week!

This next week.

Well, I am very sorry I have not been keeping up to date.  Between basketball practices for three girls, sickness, and everything else that goes on in life I have not been on top of things.

-Please remember our policy for sick children.  There has been a lot of the flu going around, I was down with it this weekend myself.  But remember if your child is throwing up, or has a fever, please don't send them to school.  They also have to be without a fever for 24 hrs. before they can come back.  I really hope this passes out of the area quickly so everyone can get back to school.  :)

- NOT THIS WEEK, but next week we will be having a Science test on Chap. 11 and 13.  We did not cover Chap. 12 right now, we will come back to it if there is time.  I will be handing out Study Guides this Friday and the test will be the following Wednesday, February 6th.

-In Social Studies we are starting to discuss the events leading up to, and then the Revoluationary War.  The students are going to be creating ABC books for their final assessment.

-Math we are starting fractions this week, and in reading we are going to be doing a play.

-Mrs. McEntire and I are trying to do a lot more writing and not as many multiple choice. Which will help your student in the long run, to be better writers and thinkers.  We have been slowly incorporating writing into everything we are doing.  Having said that however, after the ABC books in Social Studies we will probably not be doing any more big projects until after the MAP test.

-There are only two months left until the MAP test, we will start doing a lot more reviewing, Buckle Down, ect. to get ready for the MAP test.  This month will not be too much reviewing, but the month of March we will be hitting it heavy to get your students ready.

I hope everyone has a great week!  I can't believe January is almost over already!

Welcome back from Christmas break everyone.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

I am very happy to be back at school, and I'm excited about what we will be covering in the second half of the year.

In Social Studies we will be looking at the 13 original colonies, Revolutionary War, Slavery, Westward Expansion, and then the Civil War.

Science we will start physical science and talk about the forces of motion, simple machines, light, and energy.  We will then cover my favorite unit, Earth sciences, water cycle, weather, natural disasters, erosion, and plate tectonics.

In Math we are going to look at graphs, probablity, and then a lot of fractions.  We will also cover some measurement, time, and solid shapes.

Reading we will continue to work in our reading books.  We will be reading a lot of nonfiction pieces and ways to better help us understand how to read.  We will also do a Cinderella unit toward the end of the year.

We are going to be really hitting the books hard and gearing up for the MAP test in a few months.

I thank you all for the help and support you have given me so far this year, and I know we are going to have a great second half!!!!!
